First Annual Tampa Baseball Clinics
Based on the success of the Turn 2 Foundation Baseball Clinics in Kalamazoo, Mich., and New York City, the Turn 2 Foundation will host its First Annual Tampa Baseball Clinic at the Yankees' spring training facility, Legends Field, from April 9–12, 2008. Turn 2 and the City of Tampa Parks and Recreation Department will partner to provide a free, four-day program for girls and boys in the Tampa area aged 7–13. The clinic will focus on fundamental baseball skills while incorporating education towards healthy lifestyles and life lessons based on the 10 life lessons discussed in Derek Jeter’s book, The Life You Imagine -- a core component of the Turn 2 Program curriculum. The clinic will allow 75 youths to participate in various skills stations over the four-day period including throwing, hitting, fielding, pitching, running and positive sportsmanship qualities. Guest speakers from the Tampa area are also scheduled to speak to participants about maintaining healthy lifestyles and striving to reach academic, athletic and drug-free goals. The Tampa Baseball Clinic will conclude with an awards ceremony and banquet for participants and family members. |
