On Jan. 27-29, 2009, the Turn 2 Foundation hosted the Sixth Annual Derek Jeter Celebrity Golf Classic presented by Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino at Saddlebrook Resort in Tampa. In spite of the troubling economic times, the Turn 2 Foundation raised more than $800,000!! Over the course of the three days, sponsors and supporters played two rounds of golf, enjoyed a welcome reception and the exciting "Draw Party" featuring a live performance by The O'Jays.

On Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, foursomes participated in the Sponsor Tournament with a shamble format on the Saddlebrook Course at The Resort. Following the tournament, the 18th hole hosted the Second Annual "Derek Jeter Celebrity Shoot-Out, sponsored by TPT Golf." Celebrity attendees were given the opportunity to compete in a "closest-to-pin" shoot-out to win a donation to a charity of their choice. First-place winner Jacob Brumfield won $5,000 and drivers with custom shaft options, Taylor Made "Burner" drivers and two dozen Bridgestone golf balls for each member in his sponsor foursome, Jen & Ron Cortina. Second-place winner Trent Edwards won $2,500 and drivers with custom shaft options, Taylor Made "Burner" drivers and two dozen Bridgestone golf balls for each member in his sponsor foursome, BeavEx, Inc.

Later that evening, Derek joined the Golf Classic Emcee, Harold Reynolds, to host the sponsors and celebrity guests for dinner, a silent auction featuring unique sports memorabilia donated by Steiner Sports Marketing and a record-breaking Celebrity Draw & Live Auction. A highlight of the evening was the check presentation by John Fontana, President of Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, the Presenting Sponsor of this year's event. This exciting evening was topped-off with an electrifying performance by the legendary O'Jays in our very own "Hard Rock Arena," which was built inside the Draw Party venue at Saddlebrook! The live celebrity auction raised $161,000!

On Thursday, the tournament culminated with the main event, the Celebrity Golf Classic. Twenty-five foursomes and more than 30 celebrities participated in the Golf Classic on the Palmer Golf Course at Saddlebrook Resort. Derek was stationed at a par 3 hole and greeted each foursome at his hole, teeing off with each group.

Celebrity guests included: James Blake, Kelly Kelly, Erica Blasberg, Jacob Brumfield, Harry Carson, Paula Creamer, Richard Dent, Trent Edwards, Carl Everett, Dwight Freeney, Andres Galarraga, Ron Gant, Natalie Gulbis, Chipper Jones, Michael Jordan, Brittany Lincicome, Tino Martinez, Fred McGriff, Charles Oakley, Shelton Quarles, Tim Raines, Ahmad Rashad, Richie Sexson, Buck Showalter, Bruce Smith, John Starks, Darryl Strawberry, Leanne Tweeden, Ryan Howard, Alonzo Mourning, Jorge Posada, DJ Premier, Harold Reynolds, Gerald Williams and Don Zimmer.
